the Lord will bless them immensely

Hey family!

So before I forget, on the 10th of May we are going to Skype you from a members house sometime in the afternoon. Not sure the hour yet but Ill let you know next week. Sabrina are you phone calling home? Also have you guys gotten my letters yet? Wow does it take a long time.
This week was Stake Conference. And my very first ward in Modelo is part of our Stake. So I saw a ton of people that I knew there and it was sooo cool. All the little kids are a lot bigger and everyone remembered me and we were taking lots of pictures together haha. I miss that ward. I was looking everywhere for the Familia Quintana and when Conference ended I looked around and behind me was Hna Leah and I was like ¨¨HNA LEAH!!!¨ √§nd she looked at me and said ¨MIJAH!¨ and gave each other a big hug! Then Luis, Diana, and Alex came over and I was seriously sooo happy to see them I almost started crying and my hands were a little shaky (I think because of all the emotions haha) Alex is now the Deacons President in his Quorum. Luis has a calling with the youth and Diana is pregnant with their third child. I am so happy for them. They are planning on visiting me in Canada sometime and have been looking at how to get the visa. YAY
Oh funny story. We are teaching this family who has a boy named Orlando and he's 7. He told us he has a pet gallina (chicken). And I was like ohhh that's very nice, not really believing him and he ran out to the backyard and came back with this huuuge gallina in his hands. Like fully grown and let it go in the house! I was so scared it was trying to fly everywhere and I thought it was going to peck me. And the funny part was when Orlando took it and put it on our Ward Mission Leader who came out with us, he was so scared lol. The crazy things people do here hahaha love it.
Anyways the conference was super awesome. They talked a lot about missionary work. In this stake there are 234 youth and only 10 missionaries currently out and 2 who are filling out their papers. I thought wow, what a huuuge difference it would make if even half those people decided to serve. What a huge blessing it would be to them. I have noticed a lot here that the youth seem to put education as the main priority and put it in front of missions or marriage. I know that as they accept the call to serve and serve with all their hearts, the Lord will bless them immensely. Like Sabrina, I love the mission. I love training my daughter she is so cool we are good friends. We have been progressing a lot here in Cuauhtemoc. It is a great area and the members are nice too.
Well I love you guys lots. Take care and Skype soon eh!

especially the nacatamales and gallo pinto

Hi Family!

Its funny cause Dad always says how there is nothing much new back home and i think to myself that there has to be something new that happened in the last year. But as I write I constantly am thinking of something interesting to tell and I run out of ideas. I know lots happened but my mind goes blank as I type haha.
This week I was reflecting a lot on my mission and the things that have happened to me. Remembering all the times the Lord blessed us and were able to witness miracles and change peoples lives. I felt the urge to contact some of my converts and sent them a text telling them how much I loved them and they replied a few days ago saying: Hi sis, you know you're a member of our family, we thank the lord for the time that we had the honor to share with you, we love you sis, keep up the good work and here's one of my favourite quotes, "The decision to serve a mission will shape the spiritual destiny of the missionary, his or her spouse, and their posterity for generations to come. A desire to serve is a natural ourcome of ones conversion, worthiness, and preparation" -Russell M. Nelson. Remember sis we love you and you will always be part of this family.
I can´t explain the feeling you get as a missionary when you help people come unto Christ. It is something you have to experience for yourself. But I do know that as the scripture says in Doctrine and Covenants, how great shall your joy be if you bring many unto me. I will be overwhelmed with happiness seeing all the people I love, in the Celestial Kingdom with me (if i live worthy) The mission changes lives, and most importantly, it changes you. I have come to realize that as you give your whole heart, talents, mind, everything, to the Lord, he will pour out his blessings upon you and you will be truly converted to the gospel. I love my companion so much, it has been a pleasure for me to be able to train her. She is an excellent missionary with great potential and I am so proud of her. But through everything I teach her, I want her to know that the most important conversion anyone can make, is yourself. And the secret is exact obedience. Not out of obligation, but out of love for the Lord and his work.

So in my zone is a Nicaraguense! He is the only person from Nicaragua here on the mission and he is from Managua. His name is Elder Torres and his family knows mom's family as well! How cool hey? We were talking about the food there and how awesome it all his, especially the nacatamales and gallo pinto. He definitely has an accent haha, itll be interesting when we Skype and mom talks in Spanish it will be so different!
Well I love you all and hope you have an excellent week. You're always in my prayers! :)

Elizabeth is my doctor haha

Good to know how your doing! Hey have you guys received my letters yet?
And did you get the chance to read the talks I sent you? They are great.
I have grown in my testimony of Obedience a lot recently. We had a zone meeting about it and I had some time to read a talk that says when we are obedient we are converting ourselves. And how we are the most important converts that we know. First we should feed ourselves and nurture our testimony, then we will have that natural desire to reach out and help those around us. Not to mention the most important thing we can obtain from obedience, the Spirit.
Last week we had a lesson with a less active 17 year old girl. We taught part of lesson 1 and I asked her what was it that made her know that the Church was true? She started telling her story and then started bawling because it was so spiritual for her. I thought of when I received my answer to my prayer and when I truly had a testimony of the gospel. Our conversion stories could be compared to Joseph Smith and when he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He could never deny it afterwards because he knew he knew, and knew that God knew. And that is all that matters. The same with us. We have never seen God, but that strong feeling we receive is something personal and we can never deny it. It will always be something we never forget.
I am loving this area a lot. We just got a new Ward Mission Leader and he actually served his mission here like 5 years ago. And is pumped on missionary work and helping us. I am really impressed. I'm looking forward to helping the ward and finding people to teach.
Well one last thing, can you guys pleeease write me a story of your testimony on tithing so I can have it next week? Its just that the mission is focusing a lot on it and how we have to teach strong lessons on tithing to our investigators and ask our families for stories.
Also by looking at the picture you will notice I got another ingrown toe nail yaay. Elizabeth is my doctor haha she knows me now and says that its from the mission and that every 6 months it will come back and I will have to get it removed. But all is well, all is well.
I cant think of anything else at the moment. I miss you all so much and pray for you. I am excited to skype you on mothers day and hope you have a great week. LOVE YOU!!

I know the Lord is always aware of us

Wow seeing those pictures of snow!!!! I am sooo jealous haha. But that is awesome that you guys are having a great time in Alberta.
Well this week was a lot of work. We walked a lot and got lost quite a few times. It is crazy to believe but this area is even bigger than my old area! We cover all of the centro and las lomas. Its huuuuge. So we have to plan really well.
As for training its a little stressful but i am enjoying it. It reminds me of when I was being trained and now that I am training I see the sacrifices that Hna Lopez did for me and I love her so much more. I love my daughter as well, she is so kind and really tries hard. By the end of the day she is so exhausted I can see it in her face and she still smiles and says she's good. I took her to Dairy Queen for her first time ever and bought her an M&M blizzard haha.
Well I have really learned a lot about faith this week. At some times I was wondering where we should go and which people to contact and this lady came into my head that we had contacted a few days earlier. So we went to her house and her husband was there too and they both invited us in so happily and we taught lesson 1 and the Spirit was super strong. They understood everything and accepted the invitation to be baptized. It was seriously a tender mercy from the Lord. Recently I have been trying to notice little blessings from the Lord because we definitely receive them each day, we just may not realize it. Its weird how we can be so blinded to see the hand of God in our lives. I know the Lord is always aware of us and is always there for us. I loved General Conference so much this week. I hope you guys had the chance to watch it and if not I strongly encourage you to. Hope this week goes well and I love you lots.
